Radio Shows
ArtyParti – 2015 to present

Jay produces & presents ‘ArtyParti‘, a weekly live radio programme which “celebrates participatory arts in the North East”. ArtyParti broadcasts every Monday at 11am on Spark, a community radio station in Sunderland.
“The best thing about ArtyParti is how inclusive it is. Whether you’re a struggling student or company director, I honestly believe that people are made to feel equally important in the drive to promote local arts and culture.” – Kathryn Barnett, Fine Artist
Global Sunderland – 2017 and 2018
Global Sunderland was a short series of radio programmes broadcast on World Radio Day in February 2017, which was the result of a seven week project working with refugees and asylum seekers living in Sunderland.
Working in partnership with Friends of the Drop-In (FODI), we invited refugees and migrants into the radio studios to share their music, stories and experiences, whilst learning broadcasting skills in the process.
The Global Sunderland project was repeated with a new group of volunteers (pictured) in 2018.
“The Spark radio staff were very nice, patient and friendly to all of us, especially Jay who relentlessly worked with us.”
Telling Tales – 2017
Telling Tales was a weekly showcase of audio dramas & documentaries, made by students and residents living in Sunderland. The programme exists as a platform to give emerging audio producers the chance to broadcast their original work to Spark’s Sunderland audience in a safe & relaxed environment, & share their work with a wider listenership than they can usually achieve alone. Jay produced this programme for six months, between January and July 2017.
“Telling Tales as a programme gives myself and other audio creators in university or surrounding Sunderland a chance to showcase our creativity, our talents, and network together professionally.” – Stephanie Chungu
